Carla Carli Mazzucato was born in Appiano, amid the Alps of northern Italy, in 1935. With a style that draws from both impressionism and expressionism, Mazzucato’s art is known for its bold color palette and artful blending of form and figures within landscapes and street scenes.
Described by Samuel Sachs II, former director of the Detroit Institute of Arts, as a “modern expressionist,” Mazzucato was influenced early in her career by the work of George Rouault, though her later (showing 500 of 1723 characters). |
