| René Derouin is a Quebec artist known for painting, ceramics and
engravings. He was born in Montreal, and in 1975, moved to
Val-David in the Laurentians, north of Montreal in Quebec. His
painting is largely related to the territory and the concept of
Americanness.
Awards include the Prix Paul-Émile Borduas (1999), and the Order of the
Aztec Eagle (2006), the "highest distinction granted by the Mexican
government to a foreigner".
