This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Page Trotter (1899-1987)

Born Carter Page J. Trotter in Whitewright, Texas, near Dallas in 1899.  He died in 1987, in Rockport.  He spent a year at SMU in Texas and then went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he met his future wife, fellow student Priscilla Parsons.  He won a scholarship  to travel in Europe for a summer.  He won another one the next year as did his wife.  He spent five years at the academy.

During the Depression he worked at home as an illustrator and greeting card painter.  He worked right in the middle of the family living room.  Most of his work was done in pen and ink and the greeting cards were often done in tempera or an ink wash.  He illustrated for the magazine The Open Road For Boys, drawing mostly cowboy and Indian stories.  The greeting cards ranged in subject matter from Currier and Ives type, to ducks, geese and fish flying out of the water, to gorgeous roses. A ll his life he wanted to be a cartoonist but never got into that.

At the Associations, he regularly won awards.  He worked mostly in pen and ink and etchings and sometimes in oil and watercolor and his subjects were largely trees.  The Rockport Art Association has a graphics award titled: The Page Trotter Graphics Art Award.

He always signed his full name on his etchings and pen and inks.
