This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Florence Howell Barkley's painting, "Jerome Avenue Bridge," oil, 20 x 24, 1910-1911, was, according to the artist, exhibited at the 1913 Armory Show in New York City. Viewed from above, it is a small but panoramic landscape, freely painted, with an expressive, romantic feeling conveyed by the sky filling two-thirds of the canvas.
Barkley was also a painter of miniatures.
Barkley was born in 1880, dying in 1954. Her work is in the collection of the Museum of the City of New York.
