Biography from Williams Fine Art:
|  Angela Woods was born in San Francisco and grew up in Southern California, which has influenced her work in a variety of urban settings. Angela has been an illustrator for twenty years. Her work can be seen in best-selling children's books, advertising, and private collections.
Angela has a degree in visual art and design, with an emphasis in illustration and animation. Her wide scope of training includes personal instruction from lead animators at the Walt Disney Company, as well as top artists in the southwest. She draws from both experiences in her paintings.
Angela has won numerous awards. Her work has been displayed at numerous galleries and juried competitions. Angela continues her education, studying with notable artists in workshops and private academies on a continuous basis.
Artist Statement:
"I would like my paintings to invoke a feeling or memory through simple
compositions. Everyday objects and scenes can be very poignant. They
often tell an extraordinary story.
I take as much pride in my
preliminary sketches as in the painting. The negative spaces define the
objects and help to achieve the overall effect of the painting.
I an
still evolving as an artist. Painting is a phenomenon and it takes a lot
of work to keep refining the artist's talent and technique. Although
I'm always improving, I'm never completely satisfied. This drives my
desire to constantly improve.
What's important for me is to know that
there is long term appreciation of my work. I want buyers of my paints
to continue to enjoy them long after they have purchased them."
