| A Tewa woman potter of the corn clan from Hano, the Tewa settlement of the Hopi Reservation, White Corn was born in the early part of the 19th century. Her father was Quootsva, a Hopi man from Walpi, and her mother was Tewa. Because these Indians were martriarchal, she lived with her mother at Hano, and around 1860 gave birth to Nampeyo, who learned pottery from her mother.
