Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, he creates paintings, many of them bleak subjects, that focus on the disconnect that people feel from each other in modern society, which is not rooted to communities.
Some of his work has religious imagery and addresses the fears people have of unmediated experiences. He has been much influenced by Old Masters such as Bruegel, Durer, and Bosch and among recent artists he admires are Paul Cadmus, George Tooker, and Reginald Marsh. However, he says the most pow (showing 500 of 763 characters). |
