| Loet Vanderveen was born in Rotterdam, Holland in 1921. As a child Vanderveen’s home was near the zoo where he spent much of his time. His love of animals would later become the subject of most of his sculptures. After World War Two, he lived in Zurich and London before moving to New York City. By the 1960s he had moved to California and established a studio-home on the coast at Big Sur. He currently lives there.
