Born in Grenoble, France, Blanche Wagner became known as a tapestry
maker and illustrator, and for her paintings of portraits, costume and
genre depictions of Maya people, and landscapes, including missions of
Southern California. She was also a writer and authored a book
titled Tales of Mayaland.
Wagner painted in France, Mexico, New York and Northern and Southern California.
She
studied art in Paris with H. Gazan and in Seville, Spain with Alfonso
