This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Carlos Ayala has devoted his life to creating sacred artwork for churches, organizations, and individuals. He has dedicated his entire work to the guidance of God through the Holy Spirit to be used as an instrument of inspiration and devotion.
He has created artwork for individuals and churches throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Mexico, Italy, Spain, the Philippines, and China. His sculptures, primarily religious in nature, are intended to convey a serene sense of peace and spirituality to their viewers, Christians and non-Christians alike.
Carlos has focused primarily on sculpture, but is also a painter.
Carlos' gift of artistic talent did not, however, come without its price. Born as the eighth child of nine to a poverty stricken family in Mexico, Carlos has had to work very hard and overcome great odds, even as a young boy, to survive. Both of Carlos' parents died when he was very young, and Carlos grew up in an orphanage called Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos outside of Mexico City.
At age 16 Carlos left the orphanage to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Bellas Artes, the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico, D.F. Carlos received an invitation to come to the United States in 1986. He lives in Tempe, Arizona with his wife and six sons. The hardships that he experienced earlier in life have helped to enhance the love he has for God and is something he wishes to communicate through every detail of his artwork.
