This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Growing up in Colorado in a family that fostered creativity, Kit Mahoney enrolled in the art program at the University of Colorado but became discouraged with the prevailing art scene focused on abstraction. She switched to medical technology but later returned to her primary interest, studying at the Colorado Institute of Art where she then taught for fifteen years while managing a greeting card company.
She also took workshops from Ramon Kelley and Mark Daily, and under their influence, her style became looser as she pursued the countryside she loves in the vicinity of Denver. She has worked in pastels but seems to prefer oil applied with a palette knife. |
