| Esteban Munras was in California in the early 19th century at the Mission San Miguel where he painted religious themes on murals with the assistance of the Salinian Indians.
He was a dealer in hides and tallow, the products of his rancho.

| | Born in Barcelona, Spain in 1798. A gentleman of property and a former Spanish diplomat, Munras painted the murals in the San Miguel Mission in 1820 or 1821. Munras Avenue in Monterey is named for him.
