|  Born in Royalton, Indiana, Joseph Gualtieri became a painter and teacher who studied at the Norwich, Connecticut Art School and the Art Institute of Chicago where he won a Traveling Scholarship. He became a teacher at the Norwich Art School and exhibited widely including the Pennsylvania Academy, the Mystic Art Association, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
