This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A landscape painter in the Hudson River School style, William Eaton was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and spent much of his youth accompanying his father who established railway stations for the expanding Burlington Railroad in Iowa and Nebraska.

The younger Eaton lived and worked at various times in Chicago, New York, and Park Ridge, New Jersey, and then moved to California in 1907, living briefly in Oakland and then moving to Southern California in Santa Monica and Pasadena.
