| Richard Stimpson was born and raised on the rock bound coast of Casco Bay in Maine. He graduated from the Maine College of Art with a major in Fine Arts. Further training in Architecture and an apprenticeship with noted Architect Benjamin Baldwin in East Hampton, New York clarified and reinforced his painting style. Mr. Stimpson's work stresses a kinship of the regional Architectural vocabulary of coastal New England through clarity of volume and light, simplicity and directness of structure.
