|This biography from the Archives of AskART:|
|The following is from the artist who lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana and describes herself as a professional fine artist painting in watercolor in a traditional impressionistic style which contains strong underlying abstractions in the compositions. Subject matters include architectural, floral, mechanical, and animals painted in dynamic patterns of light and dark. Her use of light and color reflect the influences of her numerous travels in the Caribbean and Southwestern United States.|
ABOUT THE ARTIST
In addition to many shows and awards, Miller-Pierce was named by Indianapolis Woman, September, 1995, among one of Indiana's top ten "most collectible" women artists. Miller-Pierce's work was selected by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art to hang in their March, 1997, show. She, in addition to being a professional artist, is a psychotherapist in private practice and frequently draws from her artistic side in her therapy with clients. She finds art to be both therapeutic and a diagnostic tool.
I am attracted to scenes involving clear light, that will cast strong shadows on my subject matter. I look for a composition of dark and light patterns that create dynamic tension and energy. My work is drawn from the realism of nature, creating an overall pattern which approaches abstraction. Last but not least, color is used to enhance the images and enchant the viewer. It is my hope to be able to share my comprehension of the world and its beauty with others through my art.
