This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from the artist, December 2003:

I have been practicing my art for 30 years. In 1994, I completed my first large outdoor mural which depicts Route 66 from Chicago to Joplin, MO. Prints of the mural hang in government offices, businesses and homes around the state of Missouri and in places as far away as Paris France.

I paint in a Gallery and studio in Webb City, Missouri, near the site of the Route 66 mural. One of my latest works is an oil painting titled, "Iris Cathedral".

The formal part of my art education took place in what is now Missouri Southern State University. I also completed several workshops and special courses taught by Darrel Dishman, Dean of the Art Department. Dr. Dishman's regular drawing class required 100 finished sketches per week. Learning to draw accurately and with ease was my first goal and a requirement of his.

An important addition to a Dishman class or workshop experience was knowing him and the informal discussions he seemed to enjoy. These discussions took place at local Cafes. A small group of us met often to discuss art, composition and drawing. Dishman's emphasis on accurate drawing started a sketching routine which I continue to follow today.

In 1983, I traveled with a group called The Master Artists Touring Association. They held art shows from Oklahoma to New Hampshire, and from New York to Miami, Florida. These shows made it possible for people to watch the artists at work. This was a period during which I was able to demonstrate my technique and also study the techniques of thirty dedicated and talented artists. My sales, which supported my family that year, were primarily of original oil paintings, completed before audiences.

A primary motivation for my growth as an artist has been the ability of other artists. The works of William Bouguereau such as "A-La-Fontaine" and "La-Soupe" and Auguste Renoir's 1887 "Bathers" are the kinds of work that will always be an inspirations to me.

I believe the many years of practice and close observation of natural compositions have also deepened my insight and intensified an appreciation for the world and the people who care for it.

Although I have won Best of Show awards and other contests for mural commissions, I have entered relatively few competitive shows, electing instead to spend time working and studying. I prefer that my work speak for itself and I believe it is ready to be seen.
