| Winner of the 2003 Best of Pottery award at the annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair and Market, Folwell created a pot that depicted the tragedy of September 11, 2001. One of the judges commented: "A hundred years from now, this pot will continue to be important to history."
Folwell is from a family of artists. Her grandmother is Rose Naranjo, noted potter; her mother is Jody Folwell, a contemporary potter whose work depicts social and political themes; her father is Hank Folwell, a painter in modernist style, and Susan Folwell is her younger sister and also an award-winning potter.
