| Born in St Marys, Elk County, PA on Feb. 12, 1860. In 1884 Josephine Volk settled in Santa Cruz, CA where her brothers had established a grocery and fruit business. For several years she lived in the rural area of Cave Gulch but then moved to town where she caught the eye of the county physician, Dr. W. H. Keck. They were soon married and built a home on Soquel Avenue hill, adjoining the hospital, where she lived for the rest of her life. Artistically inclined, she studied locally with L. P. (showing 500 of 931 characters). |
