This biography from the Archives of AskART:
"Moods are like changing seasons, once shed they emerge into endless possibilities and adventure." The Art of Kat Tatz is driven by feminine emotions and the complexities of personalities. Different moods of the subjects and those of the artist influence a diversity of styles and mediums reflected in her images.

She was exposed to art at an early age by her father, Salvador Montoya Jr. and her grandfather, Salvador Montoya Sr. The two sculptors taught Kat many genres including painting, sculpting, and photography. At age four, she won her first juried art show. The winning piece was a black and white photograph taken of her grandfather's sculpture located outside a city building in Olympia, Washington. The photograph was simply titled with her first response, "Pretty."

"My greatest pleasure comes from painting an array of moods and personalities inherent in women. I find myself piecing the puzzle together symbolically to capture the spontaneity and intriguing characteristics of each of my models"

Her art is as diverse as her personality and her mastery of human emotion has distinguished her images. Kat works primarily from instinct in depicting an image. Kat attended UNLV in Las Vegas while she kept her art alive by painting murals and trompe l'oeil. She has been nationally acclaimed and commissioned by numerous clients that include the Mandalay Bay Resort, Cancun Resorts, various businesses, private residences and model homes.
