This biography from the Archives of AskART:

The following information was submitted by Richard Lorenz, archivist at the Jake Jackson Museum in Weaverville, California, and past president of the Trinity County Historical Society:

Mrs. Louise S. Lovett lived in Weaverville, California from 1922 thru 1930-31.  Her husband, Roy Irving Lovett was the principal at Trinity County High School in Weaverville during that time.  She was listed in the Great Register (Weaverville Precinct) from 1922 thru 1930.

In a 12-12-1935 Trinity Journal newspaper regarding an article on the Weaverville Chinese Joss House, she is mentioned...."In 1923, local artist Louise Lovett made her first painting of the Chinese Joss House.  She has made 22 larger water colors and 4 oil paintings of it.  She has also sold over 200 small hand colored prints of the Joss House".

I have seen over 10 hand colored screen prints of different Weaverville sites.  I personally own 8 (7 1/2" X 9 1/2") prints: Blacksmith Shop, Catholic Church, IOOF & Ryans Store, Pacific Brewery, Meat Market and Masonic Hall, Band Stand and the Joss House. I also own an O/C (16" X 20"), titled "The Winding Stairs, Native Sons Hall, Weaverville California, signed Louise Sheppa Lovett, 1935, and on the reverse is a tag " Exhibited at Ninth Annual State-Wide Exhibit, address Santa Cruz, Price $50, and to be forwarded to Oakland".  I am also aware of 3-4 other oils she made of the Weaverville area.
