This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Nina (Harvey) MacGregor

Typical of numerous female artists of the past 100 years, almost nothing is currently known of the artist Mrs. Nina (Harvey) MacGregor.  The reference in Who Was Who in American Art states only that she was a resident of Montclair, New Jersey.

The Montclair Art Museum is able to add the following from an exhibition announcement: Quest, October & November 1940.  Nina Harvey Macgregor, "Mrs. MacGregor was born in Canterbury, England but has lived in Montclair many years. She studied art at Cooper Union, New York, Specializing in landscapes and marines."

They also state that she exhibited at the Second New Jersey State Annual Exhibition in November and December 1932. They also have an exhibition checklist in their files that lists 9 works but is not dated nor identified.

Written and submitted August 2004 by Edward Bentley, art collector and researcher from Lansing, Michigan.

In an additional note of May, 2007, Bentley added:

'Nina Harvey was born in 1870 in Canterbury, England.  She immigrated to the US in 1891.  She married Colin C. MacGregor in about 1904.  He was a Scotsman who came from St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada.  He was a musician but also made a living as a purchasing agent for a New York firm.  One intriguing note: according to the 1935 City Directory he is noted as having "removed to Virginia."  Interesting because she is listed
as exhibiting in Montclair in 1940.'
