This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Ward Kimball was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 4, 1914.  Kimball moved to Ventura, CA in the 1920s.  He studied at Santa Barbara School of Art and in 1934 joined Disney Studios where he worked for 40 years.  He died in Arcadia, CA on July 8, 2002. 

Exhibited:  Screen Artists (Los Angeles), 1949; Outdoor Art Festival (Los Angeles), 1963.

Ward Walrath Kimball was one of Walt Disney's team of animators known as Disney's Nine Old Men. Among the many characters he created was the character of Jimminy Cricket from Pinocchio. Kimball was awarded the Academy Award for his animation work.
