| Henry Dreyfuss was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 2, 1904. Until 1920 Dreyfuss studied as an apprentice to theatrical designer, Norman Bel Geddes. He opened his own office in 1929 for theatrical and industrical design. He was a celebrity designer during the 1930s and 1940s, and the author of several books on design. He died in Los Angeles on October 5, 1972.
