This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Audrey Jacobs was born January 12, 1986 to Sarah and Marty Jacobs. She grew up in Liberty Missouri with her brother Josh, who shares much of the family's artistic disposition. Sarah, her mother, is currently pursuing two master's degrees in music theory and music history, while working as a piano teacher and a church organist. Marty, the father, has been the high-school principal since 1986. Aubrey Jacobs has drawn inspiration in her work and in her life from her family.

Jacobs's artistic qualities developed in conjuncture with her verbal. Crayola in hand, she began to explore the world of creating at the time when she was only just starting to string words into sentences. While other two-year olds scribbled pell mell in the center of the page, the family pediatrician remarked, Audrey meticulously covered the page to the edges. The observation motivated her mother to encourage her artistic leanings as a child.

From the age of five on Aubrey jacobs took art classes in the Kansas City metropolitan area including two summers at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art until jr. high when she'd exhausted the area's options. In high school she took a broad survey of classes offered at her school from sculpture to photography to 2-D studio art. Her classes exposed her to a wide variety of traditional mediums, through which she developed a partiality for oils.

As a young artist, she began her career right away, winning several elementary art awards. Among these were first and second prizes in the American Royal and several coloring and design contests. Most recently she won the Merriam Community Center High School Visual Arts Competition's sixth place in photography for her photograph "Standing Tall" and, a year later, third for "Portal". Her experimentation in middle through high school art did not end with the visual. She has practiced the violin since she was ten, and studied with Neil Samples of the Kansas City Symphony. Recently she has branched out from her classical training to explore an interest in Celtic fiddling. This interest in Ireland also led her to try forming a dance on the conflict in Northern Ireland in a high school student-run dance show. In high school her passion for history and for art collided and presently she is pursuing a degree at Creighton University in art history.
