Erasmus Humbrecht, a Swiss-trained artist born in Alsace around 1849. Records show Humbrecht was 23 in 1872 when he began decorating the cathedral with a series of paintings as part of renovations to the building, which was reconstructed in 1850 to repair structural deficien (showing 500 of 4563 characters). |
