| Katherine Brown was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1948. Her father, an avid outdoorsman often had Katherine accompany him on his many excursions into the surrounding countryside of Mississippi and Arkansas. It was there that she developed her love of nature and the play of sunlight across the landscape. Her family''s reverence for the arts afforded her frequent trips to museums, the ballet, and concerts.
