The following, submitted May 2005, is from Jean Davis, daughter of the artist.
A.N. Davis or N. Davis' oil paintings are mainly of the Gloucester waterfront painted in the 20's, 30's and early 40's. His works also include other local landscapes and winter scenes.
Raised in Gloucester, MA, Arthur Davis grew up in the age of sailing when fishing and cargo vessels were still sailing in and out of Gloucester's busy harbor. At an early age, he spent time down on the docks where he (showing 500 of 2114 characters). |
