Susan Burrows Dabney received her formal art education at Garland Jr. College (1967), the Boston Museum School in Massachusetts (1968), the Art Students League in Denver (1988-1990), and Southern Methodist University''s Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Texas (1991-1992).
Her painting style has been influenced through her studies with Quang Ho, and the noted Santa Barbara artist, Douglass Parshall, who encouraged Dabney to pursue and develop her style as a plein-air artist.
