Stephen Howard Naegle, born in Toquerville, Utah October 11, 1938.  He was killed in a car crash outside his hometown of Casper, Wyoming, after returning from a family reunion in Toquerville.

Naegle studied art, especially watercolor painting, under Gaell Lindstrom at the College of Southern Utah, 1956-1957.   Stephen studied under New York Artist and WWII Aviator, Joseph Hirsh at University of Utah in Logan, Utah during a summer session.
Stephen completed both his Bachelors Degree in Art and a Masters of Fine Art Degree at the University of Utah, in Logan between 1960 and 1968.  He took a job in Russellville, Arkansas in 1968 teaching Watercolor Painting, Ceramics, and Drawing courses.
Stephen married Montana Armstrong in 1963.  He and Monty had one son, Craig, who was born in 1968.  Returning to Utah, a friend, Gene Tobey helped him land a teaching job at Casper College, Casper, Wyoming.  Naegle continued at the art instructor position until 1979.  He then went into full-time painting, exhibiting and selling his work in numerous galleries.

He was admitted into the American Watercolor Society in 1978.
