Biography from Dixon-Hall Fine Art:
| Howard Hill was born in England and immigrated to New York in the 1860s. He specialized in genre paintings often including animals or children according to his grandson, the noted artist and illustrator, Norman Rockwell.
Hill exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York City in 1865 and 1866. The Smithsonian Institution’s Inventory of American Paintings lists a number of his paintings with titles such as Farm Yard, Crane on a Lake, and Ducks in a Landscape. |
