Born in Cairo, IL in 1868, "Pop" Hart was a self-taught artist except for brief periods at the Art Institute of Chicago and Academie Julian in Paris.  After traveling extensively in Europe, South America, and the West Indies, he settled in Los Angeles in the early 1920s.

He died there on Sept. 9, 1935.
