Andrew Warren, a landscape and marine painter, was one of a number of artists who made extended trips through Latin America in the 19th century.
He made a second visit to Central America (Nicaragua) in search of fresh material, and also perhaps due to a burst of interest that had developed about the region due to plans for the creation of a canal route across the Isthmus of Panama.
His painting, 'The Old Cathedral, Panama', (1866) depicts colonial churches, recognizable by their d (showing 500 of 1582 characters). |
