Constantino Brumidi was an active Italian muralist in the mid-19th century in America.
Having grown up in Rome, he studied under the most famous neoclassical artists, the Italian Vincenzo Camuccini and the Danish Bertel Thorwaldsen. Having learned the art of fresco painting he successfully worked in Rome at the Vatican and in the Torlonia Palace. In 1848-1849 political events led to his imprisonment in Rome and he was released around 1852. With this freedom he migrated to America in 1852 (showing 500 of 1372 characters). |
