|  Born in Rhode Island and living there in Providence and Warwick and
Norwich, Connecticut, Jane Anthony, married to Edwin Anthony, used her
initials, which was a common practice for women artists of that
era. She was a prolific portrait painter, completing more than 75
works. Among her paintings were miniatures and watercolors.
