| | Landscape painter. Born in Walkley, England on Aug. 16, 1879. In 1892 Shaw immigrated with his parents to NYC where he was apprenticed to an engraver. He studied at the ASL in NYC and in Paris at Académie Colarossi and Ecole des Beaux Arts. Although he spent most of his life in New York, he lived in Pasadena during summers from 1914-19. Exh: SFAA, 1911-13; Armory Show (NYC), 1913; PPIE, 1915; Panama-Calif. Expo (San Diego), 1915 (silver medal); Calif. Art Club, 1916; American WC Society, 1917 (prize); Salmagundi Club (NYC), 1929 (prize).
