| Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Jeanie Mottet studied art at the Art Students League in New York and also with William Merritt Chase, Richard, Miller and E. Ambrose Webster. In 1909, she became a member of the National Association of Women Artists and served as president from 1917 to 1919.
She spent much time painting in France, and in 1918 was decorated an "Officier d'Academie des Beaux-Arts" in Paris. In New York City, she served as Curator of Paintings at the Museum of French Art. She exhibited her work with the National Academy and Knoedler Galleries and also painted in Provincetown, Massachusetts exhibitions.
