A staff artist and designer for Rookwood Pottery Company in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1884 to 1905, Anna Valentien was also a sculptor, painter and teacher who played an important role in the Arts and Crafts Movement in San Diego.
She was born in Cincinnati and studied with Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy, and in France with Rodin at the Academie Colarossi. She married Albert Valentien, whom she had met in Cincinnati when they both worked for the Rookwood Pottery Company. In 1908 (showing 500 of 1280 characters). |
