| Illustrator, painter. Born in Auburn, NE in 1905. Raised in an orphanage, Forbes left there in 1920 and came to California. In Los Angeles he worked at odd jobs and as a movie extra. He held his first exhibition at the Los Angeles Public Library in 1927. The following year he was a member of the teaching faculty at the CSFA and then followed book illustration assignments in NYC. In 1930 he moved to New Orleans where he received his first formal art instructions at the Arts & Crafts Club. Thi (showing 500 of 964 characters). |
