| Catherine Tharp Altvater was born in Arkansas in 1907. She was a well known female watercolorist, whose works are in numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art.
She was the first woman to hold an office in the American Watercolor Society. After retiring she moved back to Scott, Arkansas and lived for 10 years until her death in 1984. Scott, AR is located 15 miles southeast of Little Rock on Hwy 165.
