"Fred L. Packer was born in suburban Los Angeles, California, January 4, 1886. He was educated in the Los Angeles Public Schools, Los Angeles School of Art, and Chicago Art Institute. With the exception of twelve years in the commercial art field, he has devoted his career to newspaper work, starting with the "Los Angeles Examiner" and San Francisco "Call-Post".
