This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Don Rodell devoted his life to the study and artistic representation of the animals he loves. "I want to be true to these animals," says Rodell, "and this is my contribution to their preservation." He is struck by their unabashed honesty. "I respect them for that," he says, "and I want my paintings to reflect that honesty."

His paintings hang in private and public collections all over the world. Among them are the Hunt Energy Collection, Douglas E. Miller Collection, Grand Teton National Park Visitor's Center Collection, United States Information Agency, National History Museum of Las Vegas, Leigh Yawkee Woodson Museum in Wisconsin, Nicolaysen Museum in Wyoming, Grupe Corporation, J.C. Penney Collection, Re/Max International Collection, Information Technology Corporation and the Philip Anschutz Collection.

Don was chosen as one of eight United States artists to participate in the prestigious World Wildlife Congress in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was selected to exhibit wildlife paintings at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and at America's Bicentennial Show in Washington D.C. Don was selected as Artist of the Year 2000 by the American Eagle Foundation In 2002, Don Rodell fought a good fight against cancer. He was inspired to paint Cowboy Cathedral depicting the serenity of the open prairie suggesting a place of worship for the cowboy who pauses a moment in reverence. Don Rodell passed on March, 2003.
