Born in San Gabriel, California, Guy Rose became one of California's premier impressionist painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was also a leading figure in the California regionalist movement.
He was the son of a large Southern California landowning family, and the town of Rosemead bears the family name. He graduated from Los Angeles High School and moved to San Francisco where he did his art training at the School of Design with Virgil Williams and Emil Carlsen. < (showing 500 of 13949 characters). |
