Joseph-Pierre Picot De Limo elan De Cloriviere was born in Broons, Brittany in 1768. He fled France because he was accused of an attempted assassination of Napolean and emigrated to America in 1803. Once he arrived he began work as a miniaturist in Savannah, GA (1803-06) and Baltimore, MD (1806-12). Cloriviere was a pastor in Charleston, SC (1812-1818), however there is no evidence that he painted in Charleston.
He eventually became a chaplain at The Visitation Monastery (a monastery of (showing 500 of 990 characters). |
