This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Peter Stimeling graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1973. He received an award for portraiture from the school and today portraits, especially in watercolor, remain the artist's most well known work. Although watercolor courses were not taught at the prestigious school, Stimeling taught himself to paint with them after being inspired by the work of Winslow Homer in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Stimeling also paints still life and landscape works from his home in Pennsylvania. He is represented in galleries along the east coast.
