Neo-Dadaist, conceptual and appropriation artist Elaine Sturtevant was
born in 1926 in Lakewood, Ohio. In a 1999 group show at the Curt
Marcus Gallery, New York City, she exhibited copies of seminal Dadaist
Marcel Duchamp's Apropos of Marcel Duchamp: Making Art After Marcel Duchamp in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction.
Sturtevant
studied at the Chicago Art Institute, Illinois; Art Students League,
New York City; Universität, Zurich, Switzerland; University of Iowa,
