| Born in the ancient Mogul city of Lahore, Pakistan, she creates site-specific murals and hand-made paper works of dry pigment, watercolor, and homemade vegetable dyes. Her style is abstract figurative with much attention to detail and symbolism.
She attended the National College of Arts where she majored in miniature painting, a centuries-old Indo-Persian tradition whose methods are time consuming and exacting.
In 1993, she came to the United States to study at the Rhode Island School of Design and later enrolled in a fellowship program at the art school of Houston's Museum of fine Arts. In 1997, her work was in the Whitney Biennial. |
