|  A painter and illustrator, Esther Reed studied at the Saint Louis
School of Fine Arts, the Art Students League in New York, and with Hugh
Breckenridge at the Breckenridge School of Painting.
She was a member of the St. Louis Art Guild where she won prizes in
exhibitions and was also a member of the Saint Louis Independent
Artists.
She lived in Pasadena, California in 1940, staying for one year. Otherwise, her home was in St. Louis.
