| The following was submitted by Gary Stanley / ArtSanDiego, February 2004:
Janice
(Joan) Webster Galloway was born in San Leandro, California on October
16, 1912. Janice (or Joan as she was known) was influenced to
become an artist by her very talented mother, Viola Best Webster.
During
the 1930's, Janice studied at the Fox-Morgan School in Oakland,
California, and she majored in art at San Jose State University.
For years she studied portraiture with Robert Rischell and still life
work with Eleanor de Haas. She met her husband, artist Quince
Galloway, at the Fox-Morgan School. She lived with Quince in her
native San Leandro until her death on October 31, 1995.
Galloway was a member of the San Leandro Art Association and the Artists of the East Bay.
