This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| The following information was submitted by the artist in February 2006: Warren Dreher is one of the Bay Area's landscape painters whose colorful landscapes evoke the Society of Six and the San Francisco Bay Area figurative school.
In the early seventies he began a series of architectural and landscape paintings in both pastels and oil which continue to this day. Often compared to Edward Hopper, his paintings continue to convey quiet moments of captured light. Dreher calls them journal entries. His current works explore the unique light qualities of Southern California, in particular San Diego, as well as Contra Costa, the coastal communities and his 20 year series on the Sacramento River Delta.
In the early nineties he curated numerous exhibits of contemporary and historical paintings at the Regional Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California and the Lynn House Gallery in Antioch, California. Among these were: The Outdoor Studio, Vanishing Point, Along the River and Diablo from the Delta.
Warren graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a B.F.A. in Sculpture and Art Education in 1970. He did graduate work with Budd Hopkins, Hardu Keck and New York Abstract Expressionist painter Jack Tworkov at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA in 1975.
Warren Dreher's work is represented in well over a thousand collections, private, public and corporate, across the nation, including the St. Mary's College of Moraga permanent collection.
Dreher lectures and conducts painting workshops throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
